Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. — Galatians 5:1

Throughout my life, there are many things that I wish I didn’t do. I have made countless mistakes and sinned countless times that I wish I simply had not done. If we are all honest, we can probably all say the exact same thing.

Scripture teaches us that there is none that are perfect. We are all sinners and we all have need of a Savior. Yet, it can be so easy to keep thinking about the things that are in your past. How could we ever be forgiven for some of the things that we said and did? But there is freedom in Jesus Christ.

Here in Galatians, Paul reminds the people that they should stand fast in the freedom found in Jesus Christ. The idea is that they should stand firm, be unwavering, and most of all, enjoy their freedom. They were no longer bound by sin.

They didn’t have to entangle themselves in the things of the past. The sin that plagued them, they should move on from it. The desire should not be to go back into those things now that they were truly free. In other words, Paul is saying, “Enjoy your freedom!”

Are you enjoying the freedom found in Jesus Christ? Have you been forgiven of your sin? If so, you don’t have to be bound by the things of your past. Rejoice because you have been set free! You have been forgiven and you can enjoy your freedom through Jesus Christ! If you don’t know Jesus and have never experienced that freedom in your life, get to know Him today! He can give you freedom from your sin and you can enjoy your freedom too!
