Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.—  Psalm 51:12

Have you ever had moments in your life where you lost your joy? It is actually more common than you might think. There are so many across religious circles that would love for you to believe that you can live on the mountain forever, in joy all the time. But countless examples in scripture tell us an entirely different story.

We can lose our joy in life for many different reasons. There are times that it is sin. Such was the case in this situation for David. This Psalm was written soon after he sinned with Bathsheba. He had committed adultery, soon followed by essentially killing Uriah, Bathsheba’s husband, by sending him into a battle to die. I can only imagine the guilt in his mind.

There are other situations that can cause us to lose our joy. It can come at the hand of circumstances in life. Situations that perhaps shock us. They shake us to our very core and take away any moment of happiness from our lives. Whatever the cause, there are many instances in life where we may lose our joy.

But we don’t have to live that way forever. Thankfully, one of the most amazing traits of God is that of Restorer. He is an expert in restoring people that are broken, hurt, experiencing guilt, and giving them joy once again.

Do you find yourself struggling without joy? If not, one day you will. Don’t just settle to live a miserable life. Call out to God. Ask Him to bring back the joy in your life once again. Yes, there are times in life your joy may waiver, but God is the expert and restoring joy for those who have lost it.

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
