No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. — Luke 11:33
In my time as a paramedic, I had a lot of interesting experiences. I’ve shared many of those, but it seems that many of those interesting moments came in the middle of the night. We often found ourselves going out for emergency calls when everything was dark.
I remember on one occasion that we were going out for a traffic accident in the middle of the night. We arrived at the scene of the accident and we were using flashlights to try and find the car, the patients, and get them the care that they needed. It was challenging, to say the least, trying to function with a small light and give the care you wanted.
That all changed when the fire department showed up. That particular truck had massive spotlights that could be raised above the crowd, giving light to the entire area. Soon, we were able to function much more efficiently, providing the care that was needed. We were able to see all around thanks to the light.
In this life, we have enough darkness all around us. The world is full of it and it is sad to say it seems to grow darker each day. That is why light is more important now than ever. But many Christians are scared to shine their light.
This world needs us to shine our light among the darkness. The world needs us to stand for truth, God’s word, and against sin. The more of us that take a stand and shine our light, the brighter that light becomes.
Are you shining your light in this world? Don’t be ashamed of being a Christian and hide your light. Instead, shine your light brightly in this world so that others may see Jesus amid the darkness.
Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
