And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. — Luke 24:51

There have been many times in life where we have made plans with friends and family. On several occasions, we were planning to do something together and we set a time that we should all meet at a specific place. Maybe it was a meal, ballgame, or something, but the idea was that we had something planned for when we all arrived.

No doubt you have had those instances in your life as well. Perhaps you were making plans with someone and you said the same words I have said and heard countless times, “when we all get there.” It certainly doesn’t mean you are all going to arrive at the same time. But once you were there, you were all going to enjoy the same thing.

I can only imagine what was going through the disciple’s minds on the day that Luke described. They had heard the words Jesus said that He would go to prepare a place. I’m not sure if they put all of it together at this point in time, but I don’t think it took them long once they watched Jesus ascend.

Just like Jesus promised, He died, rose again in 3 days, and then ascended into Heaven. He left them a promise that He would come again one day and that all who believed would be with Him in Heaven. In good southern terminology, He was saying one day, we are all going to be there.

Others have gone on before us and it may be our turn to depart from this world before today is through. But it doesn’t matter who gets there first, because one day we will all be there. When we all get there, all the troubles, trials, and heartaches of this world will be gone.

We must all be ready because it could be today. Are you ready? Have you accepted Jesus Christ as Savior? If so, keep looking. Today may be the day! If not, don’t worry. One day we will all get there.

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
