Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. — Philippians 4:6

Not too long ago, my son found a new favorite game to play when we are in a store or out in public. He wants to stay close to you, but he wants to be in a place where you cannot see him. For example, he thinks it is hilarious to walk right behind you watching each way your head turns. The game usually includes his sneaky little laugh.

I may not be able to see him walking behind me, but I can feel his presence there. I’m always watching him closely to ensure he stays on my heels. Occasionally, he is the typical kid and becomes a little bit distracted. I feel that presence fade and I quickly turn around to find him.

It is in those moments where I don’t feel his presence as close that I start to become concerned. The same goes for the child of God in our relationship with God. There are times that we feel God close by and all is well. But what about those times when His presence seems to fade a bit?

There are times in life when God will not feel as close as He once did. That doesn’t mean that God has left you. In fact, that feeling is nothing more than a feeling that you are having. God is still right where He was, doing the same things that He was doing: watching over you!

So what do you do in those moments when God doesn’t feel so close? Pray! Tell God how you feel. Let Him know that you are craving that close feeling you once had. God’s word promises that He will never leave nor forsake you. So don’t just accept that feeling, talk to Him and tell Him how you want Him to draw you close once again.

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
