Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. — Psalm 119:105

It had been a really long night. Our family had been staying out of town and something happened near our home that caused us to need to return home. So as midnight approached, we packed up our car and started the drive that would take us a few hours to get home. As we backed into our driveway, everything seemed to be normal, other than being dark.

I got out of the car and started to open the garage door. That’s when I heard a startling noise from my wife on the other side of the car. As she got out of the car, she stepped into the edge of the grass. Out of the grass slithered a snake that startled her. It started across the driveway and onto the path to our front door. She had nearly stepped right on the snake.

The darkness had kept her from seeing clearly what was in front of her as she stepped. She was doing her best to avoid stepping on anything. Had there been more light, she would have no doubt seen the snake much quicker.

As we go through our walk of life, each step we take has the potential for consequences. While we may try to avoid the pitfalls of sin and the snares of the devil, there are times when they can be difficult to see. That’s why we need to put the light of God’s word in our lives to help guide our steps and our path.

God’s word will lead us in the right paths in life. It will keep us from making the wrong turns or being trapped in the snares that are all around us. It helps us avoid obstructions and keep us from falling. We were given the light, but a light only works if you use it.

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
