He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. — Psalm 91:1

There is something special about home. You can travel away from home for a period of time, and there is something relaxing about when home comes into view. It doesn’t even have to be a long period of time either. For example, there’s something reassuring and relaxing when you have simply been out of the house all day and you arrive back at home.

For most, home is a place of refuge and relaxation. It is a place where we can truly be ourselves, knowing that we don’t have to face the pressures of the world around us. No one around us sees what is happening in our home. It is just us. It’s our secret place for what we make it.

Everyone has a place that they long to get where they can truly relax and be away from the pressures of the world. A dwelling place that gives rest and rejuvenation. But not everything that goes on inside a home is a good thing. It truly depends on what is in the person’s heart as to the condition of the home.

As the psalmist writes here, there is a place of dwelling with God. In other words, your heart abides in God. Who you truly are on the inside dwells fully in God. It means that you don’t have to pretend to be a Christian because you are a Christian. Your heart dwells with God continually.

Where your heart resides says a lot about who you are individually. If your heart resides in the things of this world, you will never know rest and peace. If we truly want to feel that relaxation and rejuvenation, as we do at home, we must give our hearts fully to God. As you reflect today, where does your heart reside? Does God have it all?

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
