God has a plan for your dysfunction

God has a plan for your dysfunction

And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob. — Genesis 25:28

In our world today, it seems that there is dysfunction everywhere. Just pull up your local news station and you’ll see it. There are crimes committed everyday and it seems that things are anything but normal. But one thing that is very amazing to me is the amount of dysfunction that is found in the home.

If you look into the local reports, you will see time and again where there is domestic violence, assault, abuse, and misuse in the home. Husbands toward their wives, wives against their husbands, or even parents toward their children. It has seemingly gotten worse in recent years, but it is certainly not new. In fact, since sin entered the world, you can see dysfunction.

It can certainly be seen here in the story of Isaac and Rebekah. They each loved one of the sons more than the other. If you read the story, Isaac convinced his brother to sell his inheritance to him. When Isaac wanted to give his blessing to Esau, Rebekah tricked him into giving it to Isaac. The Bible is filled with stories about dysfunction.

Even though this home was dysfunctional, God had a purpose and plan. He had a plan to save the world, and that plan ran through some of the most dysfunctional situations you could imagine. If He can save the world through generations of dysfunction, don’t you think He can do something in yours?

Maybe your home isn’t perfect. Maybe you have suffered through things that no one should ever have to deal with. But remember that God has a plan for your dysfunction. Give your dysfunctional situation to God and let Him use it. Let Him show you He is still God in the middle of dysfunction.

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
