There are many times in life when things seem to be going great. Maybe you have had an exciting event in life, such as graduating, getting married, or finding a new job. It seems that everything in life is looking up and going well. But then, it’s not.
Those good times that you were experiencing turned bad. The job isn’t going as well as it could have. Maybe you struggle to find a job after graduating. Perhaps the marriage was great for the first few years, but then it became a struggle. I certainly believe Hosea could relate.
In chapter one, he was told to take Gomer to be his wife. It wasn’t a routine marriage. After all, Gomer was a prostitute. Things were going great for Hosea as they had kids. But then, things changed. Gomer went back into her life of prostitution. What was going well had suddenly turned bad.
When the good times in our life turn bad, God has a purpose and a plan. Hosea’s situation wasn’t picture-perfect, and perhaps yours isn’t either. Sometimes these bad times require us to do things that are not easy. I am certain it was not easy for Hosea to buy his wife on the auction block. But God had a plan.
Don’t focus on the bad things and lose hope and faith. It can be easy to start looking at your situation instead of God’s plan and solution. Maybe you don’t see the plan right now, but God has a plan for you, even in the bad times. When the good times turn bad, trust Him and follow Him. He is taking care of you.
