Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD. — Lamentations 3:40

Recently, I was standing in our home and starting to prepare to get ready for the day. I had the clothes I wanted to wear and my shoes and I was making preparation. Like most people, I was standing in front of the mirror. I needed to fix my hair, and then I always want to take a final look before I walk out the door to make sure everything looks good.

On this day, I noticed something was off. As I looked down at my shirt, I noticed what appeared to be a spot. It was faint, but it was still a spot. I questioned whether anyone would see. Then, I questioned if I was truly seeing what I thought I saw. On closer examination, it was definitely a spot.

I quickly did what most people would do. I changed my shirt. I made sure that the next shirt that came off the hanger was clean, without a spot. I put that shirt on, then walked out the door on my way to work. It wasn’t too long after that a sobering thought came to mind.

We often look at ourselves and how others may look at us. We want our hair to be fixed and our clothes to look clean or appropriate. But do we give much thought to examining our lives as God might? He is not concerned with your hair or your clothes, He is concerned with your heart.

If you put your hypothetical “spiritual glasses” on today, what do you see that God sees in you? Does God see someone that loves Him, lives for Him, and wants to walk closely with Him? Or does He see someone that has the appearance of a Christian on the outside and anything but a Christian on the inside?

What does God see when He looks at you? We can easily fool those around us with our outward appearance. But God sees our hearts and knows the truth.

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
