Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. — Psalm 23:6
It seems that we often have a misconception about our lives. When we are younger, we don’t realize how short life really is. I remember when I was younger saying that someone who was 30 years old was old. When I turned 30, I realized it was not quite as old as I once thought. It seems that as we get older, we start reflecting on our lives more.
As I have gotten older, I realize that days pass much quicker. It seems that every day my son grows. It seems that every week passes faster than the week before. My hair continues to turn gray and even fall out. I can’t move as fast as I once did or think as quickly as I once could.
These are all signs and indications that our days here on earth are numbered. The BIble teaches that we all have an allotted number of days in this life and encourages us to make each of them count. There are many days that are good days, and quite a few that are bad days.
No matter how many days you live on this earth, there is one thing for certain. You will never face one single day where God’s mercy and goodness are not present. In just opening our eyes in the morning, God blesses us with another day. Sure, we may not see as well as we once did or jump out of bed as quickly as we once could, but it is still the goodness of God that we have another day.
From the time a sheep enters the fold until the day the sheep passes away, a shepherd cares for the sheep. He watches over them, protects them, and guides them. That is exactly what our Shepherd does for us.
If you are reading this, the Shepherd has given you another day. He will care for you, watch over you, and protect you. That’s what a Shepherd does. The best part? You will never face a single day in your life where He does not do it again and again. What an amazing Shepherd!
Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
