Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. — Psalm 127:3

One time, I was researching churches in the area where my family and I were moving to. The area was known for having a wide selection of churches but also a wide variety of beliefs. There were many different denominations represented throughout the region. As I researched the churches, I came across one that really stuck out to me.

Amid all the things that the church stated it stood for and against, one thing really caught my attention. The church said on its website that it believed a woman should have the right to an abortion and that “God would understand.” I was completely taken back by reading those words.

I was reminded of the verse in Psalm 127 that children are an heritage of the Lord. To simplify, children are a gift from God to those who receive them. They are a blessing sent directly from God. I love how one writer commented on this verse and said that children should be likened to a divine favor that was bestowed on the one who receives them.

That’s certainly a different mentality than we see in the world today. But more than just the world, from a place that calls itself a “house of God.” If anything, churches should make themselves a safe place for children and those expecting children, to help them, nourish them, and guide them into understanding the extremely important gift that God has given.

Rather than conforming to the world’s ideas of convenience and political correctness, we should share the story of God’s goodness and God’s blessings. The world will never share the story of God’s blessings. It is up to us to share the true story of God’s blessings every day in our words and actions.

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
