I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me. — Psalm 13:6

Last year, I stopped by a local pharmacy to get my flu shot. They weren’t very busy, and the sign said just to walk in and get your flu shot. I walked back to the back of the store and requested a flu shot. I provided the information, filled out the paperwork, and was told that I should go to a specific area to wait.

The area of the store to wait for your shot was adjacent to the pharmacy, but it was not visible to pharmacy staff. As I waited, I watched the customers pass by as they picked up their medicine. I watched employees pass by as they went to and from the backroom. Time passed, and soon, I had been waiting for 45 minutes.

I went back to the counter to ask how long it would be until I received my shot. The lady started to have me complete the paperwork again. I explained that I had already completed it, and she became confused. It seems that someone else had my paperwork and was supposed to give me my shot, but I had been forgotten!

There are many times in life we may feel forgotten. It’s not always something as simple as getting a flu shot. In the case of this Psalm, David felt like God had forgotten him. But God has never once forgotten one of His own! He has never misplaced anyone or overlooked them.

We only see things from our perspective. In those times we feel forgotten, we should look at things like David did here in this verse. Take a moment and praise God! Sure, maybe you feel forgotten, but take a moment and think about God’s goodness and God’s mercy on your life. You’ll quickly realize that God has not forgotten you at all. It was just your perspective.
