Amid all my imperfections, one of the biggest things I struggle with is procrastination. There are many times that I find myself distracted and struggling to do things that I need to do. Even though something is extremely important, I often find myself saying those words, “I’ll do it tomorrow.”
Procrastination is a real thing for many people in a wide variety of areas. People often say it in relation to work, school, relationships, or many other things. It can be just so easy to say, “I’ll do it tomorrow.” But what happens is that we often put off important things that we actually need to do.
The same goes for our spiritual lives as well. Have you ever found yourself in certain situations putting off important things for your Christian life? For example, maybe you have a busy day, and it’s tempting to put off the prayer for your food. Or perhaps it crosses your mind to thank God for His goodness and mercy. Rather than doing it, you simply say, “I’ll do it tomorrow.”
Even in our relationships with others, as the words of this verse indicate, procrastinating can be dangerous. We don’t know what tomorrow may hold. Maybe tomorrow will not be better or more convenient than today. Or worse, what if tomorrow never comes?!
Whatever you find that God places on your heart today, don’t put it off until tomorrow. Read your Bible. Spend time with God in prayer. Say the words “I love you” and show others your compassion and care. Each day we let slip away in procrastination is a missed opportunity. So don’t put it off until tomorrow. Live for God today!
