I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. — Psalm 130:5

A few weeks ago, our family decided that we would go out to have dinner with some friends. The restaurant had shared with us that we could call ahead, putting our name on the list. We called them ahead of time, told them how many were in our group, and what time we planned to arrive. Things were looking great as we planned to enjoy a great dinner.

In the perfect scenario, the restaurant would have been prepared for us. They would have seated us as soon as we arrived, seeing as how they knew we were coming to the restaurant. That’s not what happened. When we arrived, I heard those dreaded words, “you are going to have to wait.”

Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you that I am not good at waiting. Patience is not my strongest virtue. I really struggle with waiting when I know what I need or what I expect. So many times, this is exactly how we are in our spiritual lives as well.

We often feel like we know exactly what we need or how, and we almost demand that God intervene on our behalf. But if God were to do exactly what we felt we needed, many times, we would miss out on something bigger. The challenge comes through having to wait.

Are you in a situation where you want God to intervene, but He hasn’t? Maybe you have the perfect plan and idea in your mind, but God hasn’t answered your prayer. Don’t lose hope and faith. Be patient and wait on God. Trust in His word. Sometimes you just have to wait.

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
