For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. — Romans 14:7

A few days ago, I was scrolling through social media, and I came across a video that caught my attention. The person who was in the video was speaking about their life and choices. They said, “I don’t have to answer to anyone else. I live my life for myself. Do what makes you happy!” That’s not surprising to hear in our day.

Many people around the world believe that only their life matters. They believe they are better than others. Some believe they are entitled to more than others. We even see how people will mistreat others to get ahead in business or get promotions at work. It seems there is little concern about others in life.

That’s certainly not how God designed our lives. In fact, here in Romans, we read some interesting words. We read about how no one lives to himself or dies to himself. In other words, our lives were never designed to chase our desires. Its as if the writer is saying, “it’s not all about you.

Our human nature is to seek after things that are self-gratifying, satisfying our appetites for sin. In life and in everything we do, we are Gods. One writer put it like this: “In our conduct, in our property, in our trials, in our death, we are His.” But when we live our lives attempting to satisfy our own personal appetite, that leaves God out.

Think about the things that consume your time in life. Are they things that are seeking your own personal satisfaction and gratification, or are they seeking to serve God? In everything we do, we should realize that our lives are not about us. Truthfully, it’s all about Him!

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
