If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. — 2 Chronicles 7:14
Have you ever realized something too late? Maybe it was a bill you left on a table or desk and forgot about. Time passed, and by the time you found it again, the due date had passed. Or maybe you had a loaf of bread in your house. Maybe it started to mold, but you didn’t realize it because you had not paid attention.
There are times in life when we become so distracted by the things of life we miss things. We forget where we place things. We forget that we had something, that something was due, or that something was going to go bad if not used by a certain time.
Sometimes, realizing things too late has minimal repercussions. For example, you can simply throw the bread away. But in the case of the forgotten bill, it could cause many detrimental things to happen. Your power could be shut off, and your car repossessed, or many other things. If only you had remembered before it was too late.
There are times in life when God shows us things we need to do. Perhaps it’s an item of service or perhaps a need to confess sin and eliminate things from our lives. But there are times that we overlook and ignore Him! I’m so thankful for verses like this in the Bible that remind us that our God is a God of second chances. He gives us the opportunity to make things right!
Today, reflect on your life. Is there something in your life God has told you to eliminate? Maybe it’s a sin you need to confess, a wrong you need to make right, or something that stands between you and God. Or maybe it’s a matter of Christian service He has asked for you to do. God is giving us this day to serve Him, and what better way to serve Him than to fix things before it’s too late!
Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
