I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. — Psalm 16:8
I have been fortunate to have many people that have been close to me over the years. For example, I have one friend that I knew I could count on no matter what. He would be there if I needed something to do, someone to eat with, or to go somewhere.
There were countless times I called him to grab a bite to eat or go to the nearby town. Unless he was sick or had other plans, he was by my side. There were many times he had other plans when he still made time for me. He was there through all the good times and the bad times.
The point is, there’s something special about having a sidekick. Someone that sticks by your side no matter what. We see it play out in movies and in real life. Why? Because we were never designed to go through our lives alone. God designed us to go through life with others. But there are many times in this life that we may find ourselves without a sidekick.
That’s when I’m so glad for verses like this one in Psalm 16. David knew that because he had put his trust in God, he had someone by his side no matter what. He knew that by having God on his side, he had strength and help in his times of need. How amazing and encouraging that is!
Just because we may feel alone in this world, it does not mean that we are truly alone. We have one who is by our side, no matter what we are going through. Through the good times and the bad, God is by our side. Today, don’t be discouraged if you feel alone. Remember, there is one by your side who will remain closer than any other!
Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
