For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice. — Psalm 95:7
It was just a few days ago, I had a conversation with someone who was telling me about what they wanted to do in their future. They were sharing about how they wanted to start their own business, travel more, and even start a family. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with any of those things.
In fact, we all talk about the things we want to do in the future. We have goals, ambitions, and desires. Sometimes, those future changes involve changing things about ourselves that we do not like. For example, I have heard many people share they want to quit smoking, lose weight, quit cursing, stop drinking, or many other things.
A lot of times, we look back on our past and reflect and say we want to change who we were, who we are, and be something different. But for change to take place, we cannot continue doing the same things. For example, if you want to lose weight, you cannot continue to live an unhealthy lifestyle. It requires a change.
As Christians, we often talk about how we want to draw closer to God and increase our faith. Yet, we don’t want to take steps to reach that goal. Maybe God has even shown you areas in your life you need to change. But that change will require you to listen to Him and make a decision!
I love the last statement of this verse in this Psalm. If you know what God wants, and you truly want to change, listen to His voice! This reminds me of a statement that a friend made recently. He said, “what amazing things God can do in us if we will just let Him!”
Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
