I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. — John 14:18

In 2021, there was a study performed to find out how the COVID pandemic had affected Americans. In the study, respondents shared that though the pandemic, approximately 36% of them experienced serious loneliness. Over 60% of young adults shared they felt lonely along with over 50% of young mothers. The survey was trying to tie the rise in loneliness to the COVID pandemic.

Loneliness is one of the most common challenges that peopel face in life. In fact, many psychologist share it was one of the top 5 problems of life. But it seems surprising that we would feel so lonely in a world that is so connected! We have countless social media networks, social groups, and so much more. There are far more options to socially interact than have ever been throughout history.

Yet, we still find ourselves lonely. Countless research has shown that personal relationships are important in life. Our lives were designed to work together. We were designed to help each other and be a part of each others lives. But even as we are connected as never before, we have lost the personal relationship aspect that helps combat loneliness.

If we look at the evidence, there’s a good indication that all of us will deal with feelings of loneliness at some point in life. Thankfully, for the Christian, that’s not the end of the story! While we may feel lonely, we are truly never alone. Jesus promised that we would not be comfortless.

It can be easy to become so focused on the cares of this world that we lose sight of that promise and truth. Things around us in life can overwhelm us. If you are in one of those moments, don’t forget you have a Comforter. He promised to never leave or forsake you. If you are feeling lonely, pray! For the Christian, you can take comfort that you are never alone!

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
