Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. — Psalm 100:2

Have you ever met someone who seems to hate their job? I certainly have! In fact, I have probably been in that position myself at some point in the past. You see it on their face, in their actions, and if you ask their coworkers, it probably shows in the quality of their work.

There are many things that go into being happy at work. It’s obviously much easier to be happy in your work if you are doing what God has for you to do. Your coworkers, your boss, your company, your pay, benefits and so many other things all go into being happy in your job. But what about being happy in serving God?

Just as I have seen many people be unhappy in their job, I have seen many Christians unhappy serving God. Things that should be exciting to a Christian were no longer exciting. They were not happy to read their Bible, go to church, pray over their food, or many other things. Those things simply became a ritual. They went through the motions, but there was no meaning behind it.

Serving God should be the highlight of a Christians life. It shouldn’t be an act of reluctance, gloom, or compulsion. When we wake up in the morning, we should be excited to live that day for God. But sometimes, that is much easier said than done.

Perhaps you find yourself in one of those moments where seeing God with gladness is tough. Maybe it feels like you are just going through the motions and you aren’t excited. Take a few moments and reflect on all the things that God has done for you. He has provided forgiveness, safety, security, guidance, and so much more. As you reflect on these things, it should excite you to be able to serve God!

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and helping non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
