Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving. — Colossians 4:2
Have you ever met someone that will do something every chance they get? For example, I have several friends that enjoy golf. If they get the opportunity, they will go play a round of golf. They seek opportunities to play in places they have never played before. When they travel, they want to play golf. It’s a hobby and a passion of theirs.
I have heard of others who are passionate about other things, too. Maybe it’s trying a new restaurant, visiting a favorite theme park, or reading a good book. There are many things in this life that we can be passionate about. These things take up our time and can consume our minds.
As Paul was writing, he made a statement about prayer. To continue in prayer is to engage in prayer and maintain a spirit of prayer. It is the challenge that they were to look for any opportunity to pray. A challenge to be in the mindset of prayer. In other words, Paul told them they should live their lives filled with prayer!
Prayer should be such a vital part of our lives, that we seek any opportunity to take part in it. From the time our eyes open in the morning, until we close them in sleep, we should also have a spirit of prayer. We shouldn’t just pray as a ritual or habit, but desire to find any opportunity to pray.
Stuck in traffic? Talk to God! Worried about finances? Talk to God! Concerned about things that are happening? Share it with God. Prayer is a vital part of the Christian life, where we can talk directly to God about anything. Our day should be filled with prayer, and our desire should be to live a life filled with prayer.
