As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. — Psalm 103:12
There are 3 words that the older I get, it seems I hear them more and more. It was just the other day we were riding down the road in our car and my wife said those words to me about something. Those words? Do you remember?
Yes, we often reflect back on things in our lives as we get older. We talk about the “good old days.” My wife and I often talk about the things we did when we first met or people that were in our lives, but have passed on. Life is full of memories for each of us and we often find ourselves saying those words, “do you remember.”
But there are times when those words are not so pleasant. If you are like me, there are some times in your past that you wish you could not remember. Perhaps times when you did not say the right thing, do the right thing, or live the kind of life you wish you had lived. There are always times in life we wish we could do things over, but instead, we are stuck remembering those things in our past.
While the past can haunt us, I’m so thankful for the reminder here in Psalm 103:12. Yes, we may have a past and we may regret the things we have done. God does not hold those things over us! The sins of our past, God has removed them as far as the east is from the west!
There are many times that our minds will bring up things of the past. They can be discouraging, disappointing, depressing, and frustrating. Don’t let those things get you down and defeat you. Those things are in the past and God considers them gone forever! Leave your past behind and move forward.
