And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. — Romans 8:28

There have been many times in my life where things have happened and I did not understand the reason why until much later. For example, for years my wife and I tried to have children. Time and again, we lost those children during her pregnancy. It was one of the most difficult and trying times in life. I simply did not understand why.

One day after learning about yet another miscarriage, I remember shutting my office door at work and simply asking God why. I know that God knew I was hurting and the pain that my wife and I were going through. Yet, we simply could not understand why this was happening over and over again. The doctors had no answer and it seemed that we may never have children.

While we were hurting tremendously at the time, little did we know that halfway around the world a little boy had been born. God knew that young child was going to be left in a baby drop in China once the family found out he was deaf. He knew that child was the right one for us and would fill the void in our life of a child.

Each and every thing that comes into the life of a child of God has a purpose and a reason. Every hurt, every difficulty, heartache, and pain has a purpose in the plan of God. It’s just a challenge when we do not understand what that purpose is at the time.

Just because you face the difficulties and challenges of life, don’t lose faith in what God is doing. There is a purpose to it all, even if you can’t see it. Trust God and don’t hesitate to talk to Him about it. When He does allow you to see what He is doing, it will be worth it all.
