Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah. — Psalm 32:7

My son and I were playing around the house once and he went running in another direction. It wasn’t too long before this that I had successfully hid from him in our home. He decided that he was going to copy what I did. He ran through the house and found a hiding place. I knew the direction he went, so I had a good idea of where he was.

As I got near where he was hiding, I heard him laughing as he was having a good time. I looked all around for him, pretending to not see where he was. He continued to laugh and enjoy the game. Soon, he jumped out and tried to scare me laughing because he believed he was hidden so well that I could not find him.

There are many times in life that I have found myself wanting a place to hide from what was going on around me. Perhaps the storms were raging and I simply wanted to find refuge. Sometimes the circumstances seemed so great, that I just needed comfort in knowing that all would be ok.

David writes in this Psalm that God is his hiding place, and the same is for us as well. In those times of trouble and need, God can provide a place of refuge. I am so thankful that I have a hiding place to run to!

The storms will rage and the trials will come into our lives. But no matter what life may bring, we all have a place we can run to. We can go to God and He will bring comfort and protection. Trust and have faith in God. He is our hiding place and can give us the comfort that we need in times of trouble.
