Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear. — Isaiah 59:1
I often laugh about our son. While he was born deaf, he was blessed with the ability to hear thanks to cochlear implants. He lived 4 years of his life in China without the ability to communicate outside of grunting and gesturing. Just 3 years after arriving here in the US, he has the gift of hearing and is learning to talk.
That’s where the funny part comes in. He spent 4 years unable to communicate with anyone really. Now, he never wants to stop talking! Put him in front of anyone and he feels like he has to talk to them, whether he knows them or not. He is doing anything he can to make up for lost time.
But if you have ever been around someone that likes to talk a lot, you know that the most challenging part can be listening. Sometimes, we all just want a few moments of silence. Whether it be a kid or another talkative adult, it can be challenging to find silence at times. Your ears become heavy and sometimes, you stop listening to the person that is talking because it’s just too much.
I am so glad that is not the case with God! Could you imagine if we had a quota of what God was willing to listen to and once we had exhausted that, He stopped listening? Praise God that His ear never gets heavy. He never gets tired of hearing from us!
God wants us to talk to Him about the things happening in our lives. He wants to hear the good and the bad. He wants to know where we need His help and guidance, but also our praise for what He has done. If you’re like me, that means I have a lot to talk to God about. In everything that is going on in your life, talk to God about it. He never gets tired of hearing from you.
