For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies.  — Psalm 54:7

I know that I often write about my son. He is a typical boy, full of mischief and curiosity. It is usually the mischief that gets him into trouble. It seems that every day he wants to push the limits of what he can get away with. If you tell him to stop doing something, he will do it one more time just to see what happens.

I cannot help but laugh sometimes when he knows he is in trouble. His mischievous look disappears and a moment of panic sets in. He knows that he is in trouble. His first reaction is to apologize and look for a way to escape. He will run to another room or try and hide.

Those very dynamics don’t change much as we get older. There are many times in life that we find ourselves in some sort of trouble in life, and our reaction is to quickly panic, apologize, and try to run from our problems. Even when we have the God of all creation on our side.

Just like David in this Psalm, trouble will find us as we go through life. It’s guaranteed. How we respond to those times of trouble is what sets us apart. Rather than panicking and running from our trouble as a child would, we should have faith in God during our times of trouble.

David proclaimed that God had delivered him out of all trouble. The God that David wrote about is the same God we serve today. God is able to deliver us out of all the trouble we may face in life. Maybe you find yourself in some sort of trouble today. If not, you will in the future. Remember that God is the great deliverer from trouble. Trust in Him no matter what you are facing.
