If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.  — Galatians 5:25

I know that I have said it before in devotionals, but people across the world are looking for ways to enjoy life. There are hundreds of self-help books to help you improve your life. There are countless entertainment venues that are meant to help you enjoy life. Yet, we still find ourselves in a world where so many are not enjoying life.

Especially among Christians. There are many who seem to live defeated lives for various reasons. Sometimes they are struggling with trials that seem to keep them down. There are many other times, however, that Christians seem to not enjoy life. So many things can be going great for a Christian, yet, they seem to be miserable as they go through this life on our journey toward Heaven. In some instances, it could be because of the type of life we are living.

In his writing, Paul said to the Galatians if we live in the Spirit, that we should also walk in the Spirit. When you study the meaning behind the word “live,” Paul was saying to the people to have a real, enjoyable life. He was describing a true life, one of spiritual vigor.

So if you put it in a more current understanding, Paul is saying to have a real life and survive living in this world, you have to walk in the Spirit. To walk in the Spirit is to follow after the Spirit as a soldier would follow the orders of their commander. We must live our lives according to the word of God, the guidance of God, and the leadership of the Spirit of God.

Paul says that a key to enjoying life is to truly follow God. Happiness is not found in what the world has to offer. We can find happiness and enjoy this life, even though we are just traveling through for a short while. In order to do that, we must submit our lives fully to God.
