Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. — Isaiah 6:8
When I worked as a paramedic, I recall one day that I was on a medical unit where I was by myself. It was a quiet day when all of a sudden an emergency call came in. Someone had a life-threatening emergency and it required an immediate response. Little did I know what was going to happen.
Once I arrived at the scene, I walked in where someone was in a life or death situation. I had to act, but some of the things that I needed to do required help. There were a few people nearby that had responded to the emergency with me and I immediately turned and said, “who will help me?” After a few moments, someone stepped up and we worked to do our part to help the patient.
As I left the call, I remember thinking to myself that I do not know what I would have done if that person would not have helped. What if no one was there to help? Or what if when I asked for the help everyone said no?
While you may not be placed in the middle of a medical emergency, you are in the middle of a world that needs God each and every day. God is looking for people who are willing to serve Him where they are needed. He needs people willing to share the story of Jesus, forgiveness, love, and perhaps even your personal story.
God is looking for people all around the world who are willing to play an important part in His work. What is your response to God? How we respond to God is one of the most important questions we will ever answer in our lives. Our response should be “here I am, God, send me!”
