And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. — Mark 3:25

I was once reading a story about how a company had accomplished a remarkable feat. They were producing a product that many people said could not be done. They developed a team to help meticulously research and design the product. Eventually, the product entered production and what was said to be impossible was accomplished.

As they spoke with the founder of the company, they asked him what the key to success was. He said that the most vital key to success was that everyone on the team believed in the same thing and was committed to working toward the same goal. In other words, their group was not divided. They were united to one cause and purpose.

Jesus was teaching some of the religious leaders of that day who were accusing Him of having made a deal with Satan to do the miracles that He was doing. As He made His statements, He said that a house divided against itself cannot stand. If a house is working toward two separate purposes and goals, it will never be able to accomplish the true goal that is set for it.

One of the most important things that we can do in life is to be united toward a cause. Many will call on us to be united toward the cause of our jobs, our churches, sports teams, and many other groups. It is not that those things are bad, but there is one that is more important. Our lives and our homes need to be unified in following God.

So many homes are broken in our world and many times it is a result of different priorities. God must be the main priority of our lives and our homes. Children need to see parents that are committed to following God individually but unified as a family. They need to see the importance of God, prayer, and faith lived day to day. No matter what your family status may be, is your home centered around God? God should be our main priority in everything we do.
