For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building. — 1 Corinthians 3:9

If you have ever started a new job, you remember the first few days and the challenges of finding your place. Perhaps you had to learn where a new office was or a new place on the assembly line. Maybe you even had to learn a new process for how to do something you have done for years. While you had the knowledge, you were still searching for your place in the new role.

Sometimes it takes time to find your place, but one thing that any good organization wants is that you quickly find your place and do your part. It does not do a company well if you are unable to find your place. They need you to do your job and do it to the best of your ability.

In Corinthians, Paul writes about how the church was laborers together. He shared that they were God’s husbandry and God’s building. The point of Paul’s message was that the church was in its mission together. They had a common God, a common goal, and a common work that all should be doing.

Just like a new place of work, Christians must also find their place as part of the work of God. For some, you may find that you are a teacher, minister, leader, or one of many other key roles. Maybe you are a witness to others as you go about your day. Others may simply be faithful members of God’s service.

No matter what, we all have a role and a purpose. We must be in our place and do our best for God in all that we do. As you reflect today, are you in your place and giving your best? So many times it seems that Christians want to compete, but we are all in this together. We are on the same team, working for the same goal. Instead of competing, we need to work together, doing our part to further the cause of Christ!
