Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. — Titus 2:13

If you have ever had a situation in life that you were anticipating, you know how the waiting game can be so frustrating. Perhaps you had planned or prepared for something for quite some time and it seemed like that moment would never arrive. That was my experience of waiting to meet my son for the first time. Months of planning, paperwork, and more as we waited to go get him from the orphanage in China.

All of that work, waiting, and anticipating was worth it though the moment that he walked into that room. I’ll never forget how my life changed. In just a few seconds, my wife and I went from being married to being parents. The moment seemed surreal.

Here in Titus, Paul writes about another moment of anticipation for the Christian. He says that he is looking, or longing for, the blessed hope. It was a moment of anticipation with great desire. It is the moment that all Christians should be longing and hoping for.

But are we? What are we waiting for? Are we truly longing for Christ’s return? It seems so many Christians have become distracted with many other things in life. They are focused on things of the world rather than living their lives expecting the coming appearance of our Savior Jesus Christ.

The world wants to distract us at every turn. Every day, there will be things that come into our lives that will attempt to turn our attention. Don’t be distracted by the things of the world. We must remember we have a Savior and He made a promise that He will come back one day. We should live every day like today could be that day in anticipation of His return. Today, what are you waiting for?
