The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. — 2 Peter 3:9

The older that I get, the more I seem to reflect on things in my life. I can look back when I was younger and see how the decisions I made shaped who I am today. Not all of those decisions were good decisions. Sometimes I ended up going the right way, but that was after making the wrong decision or starting out in the wrong direction. future,

Each of those decisions, right and wrong, changed the course of my life in different ways. Some were big decisions, like the day I accepted Jesus Christ as Savior or the day that my wife and I got married. Other decisions were not as life-changing, such as the color of the shirt that I bought to wear.

While some of those decisions may not have seemed as impactful on my life, each of them played a part in who I am today. There are times that we make decisions and we may not realize the impact of those decisions on our future. They may seem small and unimportant, but each and every decision we make can have a lasting impact on our lives.

Every day I continue to make decisions that shape my future. Not only my future but that of my family as well. The decisions we make about where we work, who we are friends with, the places we go, and the things we do, all impact our future. All of those decisions are shaped by the most important decision of our lives, to follow Jesus Christ.

If you have accepted Jesus as Savior, you have changed your future destination. But that decision should shape the course of your future as well. Each and every decision we make should be through the lens of God’s will. No matter how big or how small, God will help guide us.

As you face decisions, realize that each one is important and changes the course of your future. It may not alter your final destination, but it will certainly change how you get there. We simply need to trust God and ask Him to help us.
