In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace. — Ephesians 1:7

A lot of people may be disgusted at the sight of blood, but I think we all have to admit there is something intriguing about it. Without blood, we have no life. It transports the necessary nutrients to sustain life to all the various parts of our body. If we were to drain all the blood out of our bodies, we would all die.

Not only does it bring life, but it carries away all the waste or the things that would harm us if left in our bodies. So many chemicals build up in our bodies through natural processes and blood carries those harmful chemicals and substances away. It carries them to areas where they can be removed forever so we can continue to live.

The last thing that intrigues me about blood is that there is no substitute for it. I have talked with many doctors and there is no substitute for blood. This is why we see advertisements for blood donations so many times. There is nothing that science has created that can replicate what blood can do for the human body.

It is amazing that God designed our bodies in such a way that our bodies are a direct reflection of the blood of Jesus Christ! Only the blood of Christ can wash away our sins and bring us new life through salvation. There is nothing else that can accomplish that. Not only that, there is absolutely no replacement for the blood of Christ. No matter how hard men try, nothing can take the place of the blood of Christ.

It is through the blood of Christ that we have complete redemption of sin. Not just partial redemption, but complete redemption and forgiveness. As Paul writes here, it is through the grace of God that we were given such a great gift. As you start your day, be thankful for the great gift of Christ’s redeeming blood.
