For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh. — Romans 8:3

Some people find humor in the fact that I love technology. There’s something about new gadgets that I love, being able to see how much faster and how many improvements have been made. It’s always amazing to me to see the new features that are developed.

One thing that can be frustrating, though, is a phone upgrade. In a day and age where we live on smartphones and mobile apps, I always find the day that I upgrade my phone to be frustrating. It takes so much work to log back into the mobile apps, to remember or find the passwords.

Once you get through the frustrations, you end up getting to enjoy the upgrade. You get to see the new features, the nice additions, and all the other fancy things that the phone company may have put into it.

In Romans, it seems we see an upgrade was done in regards to dealing with sin. The verse starts by saying “what the law could not do.” The law of the Old Testament could not atone for sin on a permanent level. Year after year, sacrifices would have to be made to temporarily deal with sin because it was only through the flesh as the verse says.

But God sent his one and only Son to give an upgrade on how sin was dealt with. Jesus Christ became flesh and “condemned sin in the flesh.” In other words, He dealt with sin on sin’s playground. He dealt with it in a way that condemned sin for all, where sin could no longer win once someone accepted Christ as Savior.

The best part? We do not have to spend hours working for it. We do not have to look for our passwords, figure out how to work new apps, or anything else. All we have to do is simply confess our sin to Him and accept Him as Savior.

If it were difficult, no doubt many would become frustrated and give up. Yet, it’s so simple even a child can understand and believe. Praise God for dealing with sin once and for all!
