There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. — 1 Corinthians 10:13
It seems that as each week begins, we can find ourselves facing temptation on multiple fronts. Temptations can find us at work, school, home, or just going about our day-to-day lives. Temptation does not have to mean a horrible thing as many think.
The definition of temptation is that our flesh desires to do something that is unwise or wrong. While many think of it in the sense of a loss of morality or theft, it can be something as simple as a harsh word, failure to do a good deed, or many other simple things. We are human and our human nature is to be tempted to do the wrong things.
We are reminded here in 1 Corinthians that it is common for us to be tempted, but that God is faithful. Just because we are Christian does not mean that we are exempt from these temptations, but instead, we are now given a way to overcome our temptations and to escape them. We have been given the gift of Christ in us!
So whether you face the temptations to lose your morality or just simply the temptation to lose your cool with someone on the road, remember you can overcome that temptation through Christ that lives in you. Ask Him for help to deal with these temptations as you start your week and He will be faithful and help.
