Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. — John 14:6

It was not long ago that I had made a purchase of an item. I drove myself to the store and I told the worker exactly what I was looking for. He said that they did indeed carry the item that I wanted, but that it was out of stock. I was able to purchase the item and I was told to expect it delivered to my house in 3 days.

I was excited to get the item, but it never arrived. The day after, I called to start looking for the item. The shipping company said they had no idea where the item was. The company who was shipping the item said that the shipping company was responsible. After about two weeks, the shipping company finally admitted that they lost the item and would issue a refund to the company who shipped me the item so they would ship out a new one.

I’ll never forget the day that I contacted the company. They asked a million questions, but I told the person in customer service that I simply wanted a replacement shipped out. I was not looking for anything else, I was only looking for that specific item.

It was not long after the experience that I came across the verses of John 14, where Jesus says that He is the way, the truth, and the life. Just like I had spent time in the store, time on the phone, and time searching for the item I had purchased, He had given His time and life on the cross for me. But so many times, rather than searching for God as earnestly as I was searching for my item, we search for many other things to fill our hearts and the void in our hearts where God should be. We have to remember the end of this verse, no one can come unto the Father except through Jesus.

We cannot get there through our good deeds, nice words, or the things our family has done. We cannot get there through a large donation, reciting Scripture, or simply being a nice person. The only way to get there is through Jesus. He is the way, the truth, and the source of eternal life. While many want to look for a replacement for Him, there is no replacement for Jesus.
