“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might…” — Ecclesiastes 9:10
Life is filled with many different aspects. If you are like me, there’s home life. You may have a spouse and kids who are part of that home life. Then, there’s work. The place we spend countless hours each week. For some, it’s school and the educational pursuits that they want to achieve.
It doesn’t matter who you are, your life is multifaceted. We move between roles and responsibilities each day, often compartmentalizing our lives without realizing it. Faith may feel more natural in some areas than others. We may be intentional at church, reflective in prayer, yet disconnected when it comes to work, relationships, or personal goals.
Ecclesiastes challenges that separation. Scripture does not limit faith to certain areas of life. Whatever our hands find to do, at home, at work, in school, or in seasons of transition, is to be approached with intention and faithfulness. Living for God is not something we reserve for one part of life while neglecting another.
Doing something “with thy might” is not about intensity or pressure. It is about wholeness. It means bringing the same integrity, humility, and dependence on God into every area of life. Our faith is meant to shape how we lead our families, how we work, how we learn, and how we interact with others.
God does not ask for pieces of our lives. He invites us to offer all of it to Him. When our faith is integrated rather than compartmentalized, our lives begin to reflect consistency and purpose.
If you find yourself dividing life into spiritual and non-spiritual spaces, pause and consider this: God is present in all of it. Living for Him means trusting Him with every role, responsibility, and pursuit.
What area of your life might you be holding apart from your walk with God?
