Trying to figure it out

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. — Proverbs 3:5-6

Recently, my son was working on something and he became extremely frustrated. He had been working diligently on the project, but it was not working out as he had hoped. I was sitting somewhere else in the house, and I heard him expressing his frustration.

The next thing I heard was him throwing the items he was working on down on the table. He had tried everything in his power to figure it out, but it wasn’t working. I decided to come into the room to see what was going on.

He began to tell me that he could not figure it out. I quickly realized the solution was the instructions! Instead of reading the instructions and following the guidance, he tried to figure it out on his own and was frustrated.

We act just the same in our own lives. We become frustrated when we cannot figure things out on our own, rather than following the instructions and guidance of the word of God. The word of God even tells us that we shouldn’t trust in our own understanding, but rather in God.

Do you find yourself frustrated with your life and unable to figure things out? Maybe you have been trying to do it all on your own, instead of following God’s word and guidance. Today would be a great day to focus on Him once again and give it all to Him!
