That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge. — 1 Corinthians 1:5
Science is a wonderful area of knowledge designed to study the structures that make our world what it is and how it exists. Scientists often approach this pursuit of knowledge with the idea that it has to disprove everything we know or have known. When we question the “science” we often hear the comment in our day that we simply need to trust science.
But science and reality often collide. Science perceives one thing to be the reality, but then we find sometime later that the assumed reality is not true. I often reflect on this when we explore new stars. Scientists have assumed those stars were made up of certain substances, but then we find that those substances really didn’t exist there.
For Christians, science is often at odds with our faith. Scientists have often sought to prove that God is not real, that our world evolved, and that there is nothing beyond this life. This is another example where science is at odds with reality, as the proof of God is evident all around us and in everything that interacts with our lives.
This is why it is extremely important that Christians continue to develop and grow their faith. The “experts” around this world continue to try and prove that our faith is futile. They empower nonbelievers to be critical of Christians, leading them to a false understanding of reality and, ultimately, their own future.
What steps do you take to grow in knowledge and support your faith? Our hearts should be tuned into the truth, examining God’s word and learning every detail about it that we possibly can, and our prayers should be asking God to help us develop an understanding to combat the misunderstandings about God in this world.
