For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. — Romans 6:23

As we walked through the store, I saw the Halloween decorations all around. My son was most interested in the Christmas decorations that were in the next aisle. But to get there, we had to walk right past the Halloween decorations. As we passed many of them, he made comments about how they weren’t scary.

Soon, we came near one that made noise when you walked near it. The decoration let out some type of screeching noise, to which my son jumped frightened. He immediately turned, looked at me, and said something about the decoration not being real and that it wasn’t really scary. Even though he was scared just moments before by it, he quickly realized the decoration wasn’t real.

A lot of people will celebrate Halloween in a lot of different circumstances. It has become a day where many seek opportunities to try and scare others. People will seek out opportunities to enjoy these experiences once a year, completely ignoring the reality of something that they should be scared of: dying without Jesus!

Everyone will face the moment of death in our lives here on earth. To consider facing that moment separated from our Savior is something to be scared of. Jesus came to this world to save the lost, providing forgiveness of sin and eternal life to all who will believe and accept Him.

Today, if you have accepted Jesus, you have no reason to fear. This world is just the beginning. If you haven’t accepted Jesus as Savior, you are facing something to be scared of. But you don’t have to. Jesus gave His life so that you might be forgiven and live. Give your heart to Him and accept Him as Savior today!
