Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed. — Psalm 6:2

Once, I recall making a rather large purchase of some items that were needed for our home. One of the items was extremely heavy, weighing over 300 pounds. It was in a rather large box that was far too big for me to pick up alone. The workers at the store had a nice machine that would help us load the item into our vehicle. The challenge was getting the item out at home!

Not long after arriving home, my wife and I stood and stared at the item. We realized that between us, there was little we could do to try and lift the item. After some time, we realized that our only hope was to gracefully let the item slide out of the vehicle and onto the ground.

This was a moment in life when we realized that we simply were not strong enough on our own. No matter how hard we would have tried, we would have failed or perhaps even gotten hurt had we tried to lift the item.

Life gives us many moments when we realize we are not strong enough. The circumstances around us prove that we are weak in ourselves. The trials prove too fierce to try and face them alone. It is in those moments we share the thoughts of David here when he realized that in himself, he was too weak.

God specializes in providing strength in weakness. He has mercy and grace and gives strength to those in need. Do you feel weak today? Do you realize that you cannot make it alone? That you cannot conquer the trial or situation without God’s help? If so, call on God today. Share with Him where you are and ask Him to give you strength in weakness.
