Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. — Psalm 139:23 – 24

Several years ago, my family had the opportunity to enjoy a cruise out into the Caribbean. As we started on our journey, I was amazed at how beautiful the water was. It was a beautiful color, and near the shore, it was so clear.

Our next stop was further out, and to my surprise, the water was even more clear. I could walk off the shore and see to the bottom for a good distance from the shore. Our next stop took us to our furthest distance, where the water was nearly crystal clear. The transparency of the water allowed me to see everything around me. There were no surprises about what was near me.

In our Christian life, we should have that same level of transparency with God. God knows all of our thoughts, our minds, and our hearts. Many times, we think we are hiding things from God. Instead, we are simply not being transparent with God about who we really are or what we are facing.

As we draw near to God, our lives should become more transparent with Him. We should allow Him access to everything. We should allow Him to work in our lives, showing us areas that need to be cleaned up and dedicated to Him.

How transparent are you with your life to God? Do you try to block things from Him, or do you let Him work freely? As we walk with God, our lives should become more transparent with Him. If we find that we are not becoming more transparent with Him, then there is something out of place in our lives.
