And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man. — Acts 9:7

There are many people who have impacted my life in a variety of ways. If I think about the work that I do, one person who impacted me greatly was a former leader named Mark. Mark was not a Christian man, but would often tell me that he respected my faith and perspectives. Through his leadership, Mark challenged me and guided me to be a better leader myself.

There are others that have impacted my life as well. I think about one of my good friends Steve, who passed away many years ago. There are many areas of my life where he left an impact. There are many other friends who have impacted my life for both good and bad over the course of many years.

In studying this passage of scripture in Acts, we often study the impact the events had on Saul, who became Paul. We talk about the change in his life, the dramatic events that unfolded, and the legacy that he left on the church following his conversation. But what about those who journeyed with him?

We know from this verse that they were left speechless. It doesn’t say they were converted and it doesn’t say they were changed. It does say, however, they experienced something amazing because of Saul. Could the same be said about you and I? Do our lives impact those around us to experience God in a mighty way?

No matter where we go or what we do in life, we create an impact. We are either impacting those around us toward God or away from them. Here, Saul’s impact changed. If you aren’t impacting those around you toward Christ, perhaps it is a good day to ask God to help you change your impact!
