Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD. — Psalm 128:4
One of the main reasons that we started Another Well Ministries was the burden I had to help encourage those who were discouraged. As I spoke with people around me, I found people who were unhappy, depressed, and feeling as if all the hope that they had was gone. The challenges of life can certainly leave us in that perspective.
Chances are, anyone reading this today either is in that situation, has family or a close friend in that situation, or has heard of someone in that situation. While the Bible does not promise that our lives will be perfect, it does share that we do not have to live our lives unhappy. In fact, there are building blocks of happiness in life that are found in the Bible.
In this Psalm, the author shares some of the basic fundamentals of happiness. He shares how happiness starts with fearing the Lord. Someone who recognizes that God is in control of all. Not only that, that person must follow God’s will, walking in the ways God has set for their life.
As he continues writing, he shares that happiness can be found in providing for family. Someone that works, seeing the fruit of their labor providing food, shelter, and other necessities. He shares about how important family is as well. When you consider those things, it is not difficult to see the basic building blocks of happiness.
Happiness starts by placing God first. True happiness can only be found when you have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and place God first in all aspects of your life. If you want to be happy in your life, God must be first. If you want to be happy in your home, God must be first.
Do you find yourself unhappy in life? If so, check on your building blocks of happiness. Have you accepted Jesus as Savior? If so, is God first in all things? You can’t find true happiness any other way.
