Never miss an opportunity

Never miss an opportunity

And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? — John 4:27

Life will often present us with unique opportunities. That was the case several years ago when I had the opportunity to have a personal conversation with our State’s Lieutenant Governor. I found myself standing alone with him at an event, where he was asking me a lot of questions and information about myself, my career, and how I found myself at this specific event.

But the conversation took an interesting turn after a few minutes. As we stood and talked, we started talking about how good God was in our lives. We discussed how we came to know Jesus as Savior. He continued to explain to me how he never imagined his life would lead him to where he was, but that he was trusting God.

Jesus certainly found himself in a unique opportunity by the well in this verse. The disciples marveled because he was talking to a Samaritan woman. It was something most Jews wouldn’t even consider doing. But Jesus knew that and used it to prove that we should never miss an opportunity.

When God places those opportunities in our lives to tell others about Jesus or share how good God has been, do we take advantage of it? Are we ready at any moment to share Jesus? Are we ready to share our story so that others may see God through us?

Every opportunity is a unique one. We may never be presented with the same opportunity again in our lives. So, we must be ready and willing to take advantage of it. We must be ready to share Jesus and tell others about God’s goodness and mercy. We never know when it may be our last opportunity to share Jesus, or the last opportunity they have to hear about God!

Across the world, Christians need the encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
