And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. — Luke 24:3

There have been many times in my life when I have been looking for something. Maybe it was something that I had lost or misplaced, or perhaps something that I needed. But usually, when I set out looking for something, I have a pretty good idea of what I am looking for. For example, I don’t set out to find my keys but instead realize I should have been looking for my cell phone.

The point is that we generally know what we are looking for when we set out to search for something. But there are many times when we are looking for something, we find something else. For example, maybe you set out looking for your keys, but instead, you found something else that you had misplaced or even overlooked.

As those who were closest to Jesus approached the tomb, they were specifically looking for His body. Jesus had died, and in their mind, so had their hopes, dreams, ideas, and futures. They did not understand what was happening. But they did know that when they arrived at the tomb, they should have found His body.

But they were looking for the wrong thing. Instead of finding His body, they found a risen Savior! Just like He had told them, Jesus was no longer in that tomb. Instead, He was alive! But they weren’t looking for Him alive. They were looking for His body.

Across the world, people are all looking for something to fill the void in their lives. Many turn to various forms of worldly pleasure, filling their lives with wickedness. But they are looking for the wrong thing. The void isn’t to be filled with things of this world, the void needs to be filled with a Savior.

What are you looking for today? For the Christian, our desire should be to find more of Him. To learn more about God, to shine our light for others, keeping out the filth of this world.

But many are still looking for a Savior—one to fill the void in their hearts and bring true peace to their soul. If you don’t know Jesus as your Savior today, stop looking for the wrong thing. What you are looking for can be found in Jesus!

Across the world, Christians need the encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
