Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. — 1 Peter 1:3
It felt like there was simply no way to continue on. I had given everything I had for the past several hours, and I was completely exhausted. If we are all honest, we face times like this in life. But there was one problem. The job was far from done.
We were in the middle of doing some work on our home and I had to finish this piece of the project on this day. The following day, friends were coming to help us finish the final piece of the project. If I didn’t finish what I was doing, the house wouldn’t be ready, and we would be behind schedule.
So I decided to take a few moments to find me something to eat and drink. It had been quite some time since I had last eaten. After a few minutes, I began feeling a little stronger. The nourishment had given me some strength to continue on a little longer. I was feeling rejuvenated.
Peter is describing a spiritual rejuvenation in this verse. He was praising God for the hope we have in Jesus Christ and His completed work on the cross. Our lives were given hope and purpose through the mercy of God. He described it as being born again. It was a spiritual rejuvenation!
We don’t have to live our lives defeated or down-heartened. So many things in this life will attempt to take away our spiritual joy. But when we find ourselves in those moments, we can look back at these words and remember we were once without any hope. But God sent His Son, and Jesus completed the work. Every time we think about that, it should leave us feeling rejuvenated!
Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. Another Well Ministries is a non-profit ministry that relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
