For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. — Luke 15:24

It is not uncommon for me to lose something around the house. I am known to misplace things occasionally. Then, I will drive myself crazy until I actually find it. Sometimes, I find these things exactly where I remembered leaving them. Other times, it may take me weeks or months to find what I have lost. All the while, I am looking for it wherever it may be found.

It is in those moments that it takes me quite a while to find something that I am often most excited about. When I find the item, I often get excited, tell my wife, or even celebrate the finding of that item. When I think about those times in my life, I can’t help but think about the story of the prodigal son.

The father was rejoicing because his son, who was lost, was now found. He may have even been thought to have been dead, but he lived! It was a time of celebration and rejoicing for the father because his son was no longer lost. He was saved!

Knowing how the story goes often makes me think of what Heaven must be like any time there is a new believer. Those moments when one who was lost has been found. I can only imagine the rejoicing and celebration that takes place when someone accepts Jesus as Savior.

While we often talk about the story of the prodigal, this is truly the story of every believer. Once, we were all lost and away from the Father. One day, the grace of God found us where we were, and we accepted Jesus. Can you imagine the thought of the celebration that happened when you accepted Jesus?

But what if you haven’t accepted Jesus? Perhaps you have heard the story many times but never given your heart to Jesus Christ. Thankfully, you still have that opportunity today. Don’t delay any longer. Give your heart to Jesus today!

Across the world, there are Christians who need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior.
