When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. — 2 Timothy 1:5

On many occasions, our family will go out to a restaurant to enjoy dinner over the course of the weekend. It’s one of our ways to enjoy time together amid the chaos of life. We usually let our son decide where we want to eat and he is usually excited about the prospect of getting to choose one of his favorites.

After we order our food and drinks, we are like most families and we sit and talk until near time for our food to arrive. But our son understands that before we eat, we are going to give thanks for the food. It can be interesting to see the reactions of others as he begins to use sign language in saying his prayer to thank God for our food.

We aren’t doing this for the attention. He is more fluent in sign language than in speech. Others often look at us strangely as he signs his prayer. But more than just the importance of praying over his meal, my son is learning that it’s okay to share his faith openly.

As Paul wrote to Timothy, he commented on his faith. Others knew of Timothy’s faith. It was something he was not ashamed to put on display. Even more, Paul commented on how Timothy’s faith was something he saw in his mother and grandmother.

Do others see our faith? As we go about our day, are we hiding our faith, or are we putting it on display for others? While the world wants you to hide your faith, God expects us to live our faith openly. Don’t be ashamed of it. Let your faith show!

Across the world, there are Christians that need encouragement and strength that only God’s word can provide. We are focused on helping Christians find encouragement, develop stronger relationships with God, and help non-Christians come to accept Jesus Christ as Savior. As a non-profit ministry, Another Well Ministries relies on donations to continue our work. You can find out more about us and ways to support us here.
